Mr. Richard Lee Fowler of Easton, MD Died Monday, January 2, 2006 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD. He was 80. Born on July 21, 1925 in South Charleston, WV, the son of Amelia Loriaux and Thelmer C. Fowler. Mr. Fowler grew up in West Virginia and moved to Washington, DC. He graduated from Central High School and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII 1943 to 1946 as a B-29 Airplane Electrical Mechanic - Gunner. Mr. Fowler served overseas with the 461st Bomb Squadron in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. Mr. Fowler was awarded American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Pacific Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Fowler reached the rank of S-Sgt. Mr. Fowler served in the United States Air Force Reserve 1946 to 1949 where he reached the rank of 1st-LT. Following honorable discharge, Mr. Fowler returned to Washington where he began his career as a civilian with the Federal Government working as a Budget Analyst for the United States Air Force at the Pentagon Arlington, VA. He was a recipient of the Department of Air Force Meritorious Award for Civilian Service. In November 1952, he married Muriel Gaujot and they resided in Northern Virginia. Mr. Fowler retired in 1980 from the U.S.A.F. During retirement he went to work for Boeing Aerospace in Roslyn, VA for approximately eight years. Mr. and Mrs. Fowler relocated to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, first residing in Chester, MD then settling in Easton MD. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening at their new home. In addition to his wife Muriel, he is survived by three daughters, Robyn Ann Walters of Grasonville, MD, Susan Everly of Salem, OR and Sharon McQueary of Atlanta, GA; one son, Jeffrey Lee Fowler of Rehoboth Beach, DE; one sister, Betty Burr of Fairfax, VA; two brothers, Paul Fowler of Myrtle Beach, SC and Robert Fowler of Clinton, MD; and eight grandchildren, David Mc Queary of Wheaton, IL, Shannon Mc Queary of Santa Babara, CA, Casey Fowler Martinez of Woodbridge, VA, Ashley Fowler of Centreville, VA, Adam Everly of Salem, OR, Amy Everly of Salem, OR, Christopher Walters of Grasonville, MD, Brandon Walters of Grasonville, MD; and four great grandchildren, Kayla Martinez and Mia Martinez of Woodbridge, VA, Parker Mc Queary of Wheaton, IL....
Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Chester, MD.
Burial was private in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA on 1/17/06.
